We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it. Through this work we have come to value:

Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan

That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.

Nirman Doshi: I firmly believe, Agile is way better software development methodology, especially when the development team is smaller in size of 20-25 or less. But when the development team is large and project is also larger in magnitude then how to maintain it is still a mystery for me. Agile keeps the development process human instead of de-humanizing the whole art of software development. Stefan Papp: (Hagenberg Software GmbH) As CTO of Hagenberg Software, I sign the manifesto on behalf of my company. We believe in the paradigm change to create Software as it was postulated by Sam Guckenheimer in "Software Engineering with Microsoft Visual Studio Team System". We have evaluated the benefits of agile software development with a mixture of SCRUM, XP, MSF and volere requirements engineering. We conclude from this experience: A combination of the best ideas of agile methodologies will will produce better software with less expenses in at least 80% of all projects.

Dr. Don Ravenscroft: My Doctoral thesis in 1996 embraced the principles of this manifesto about the same time it was being formulated so it is refreshing to see that I was on the right track - dispite what many of my professors refused to believe at the time.
