Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan

That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.

christopher nel: I met Alistair Cockburn, a founder of the alliance, in 1998 and was inspired by his style and innovative approach to delivering software with teams; particularly his focus on understanding the traditionally softer elements of projects - the people and their interactions which I believe are a cornerstone of the agile manifesto.
